For many thousands of years, our world has been dominated by the masculine energy aspects of rational thought, control, confidence and individuality. During this time, the 'inner world' feminine energy aspects of intuition, love, compassion and forgiveness have been suppressed.

But now, we are entering a new phase in Earth's history where the focus will gradually switch from individuals striving for personal gain, to groups of people caring for and supporting each other in a more heart-centred and community based approach to life. Some people call this the 'Age of Aquarius'.
Of course, for this transition to take place, the old unbalanced masculine energies that have been in control for so long will have to make way for the new.
One energy in particular - the rationality of the mind - will need to make way and work more in harmony with the heart's feelings, intuition and compassion.

Very often, many of us are far too much 'in our heads'. We over-think and rationalise life's experiences, and forget to smell the roses along the way. The feelings of the heart, whether positive or negative, are at best neglected, and at worst suppressed from our conscious awareness.

But your heart, the 'emperor of life force energy', needs a two-way flow of feelings in order to function correctly. Feelings are the 'language of the soul', the language of the Divine, which we are all part of. Your heart is your connection to the Divine, the key to 'all that is', which is your home and your true essence.
So how can we develop a stronger connection with the feelings in our heart? One approach is to start placing more importance on how you are feeling in any particular moment. Get into a habit of asking yourself, "How am I feeling now?".
Be honest with what you find in your heart, whether it is positive or negative, and simply accept that this is okay to feel this way, whatever it is. There's no need to judge, or think that you should feel one way or another (that's the mind trying to get in on the act again!).
Just allow your feelings to BE in the present moment. Sit with them for a while, and thank your heart for sharing them with you.
Taking notice of your heart in this way, and being present with your feelings will start the rebalancing process between your heart and head.
Eventually, you may be surprised to find that in many circumstances you will prefer to follow your heart, rather than allowing your mind to dictate your every choice in life.
This sunrise of your heart is actually the dawn of your awakening to who you really are - a beautiful and divine spirit of love, light, joy and peace.

To help you connect with your heart at a deeper level, I have recorded this 10 minute meditation that you might like to try on a regular basis.
