PEMF Controller Operation
PEMF Frequency
Set the pulse frequency using the FREQ/P + and - buttons. This controls the number of magnetic field pulses that occur each second.
For example:
- "0.014" gives a frequency of 14 pulses per second (14 Hertz).
- "1.100" gives a frequency of 1100 pulses per second (1100 Hertz, or 1.1kHz)
Feel free to experiment with different frequencies. However, when you apply the PEMF device near the head, your brain waves will tend to 'entrain' to the selected frequency:
1 - 4 Hz = Delta (deep, dreamless sleep)
4 - 8 Hz = Theta (deep relaxation, inward focus, drowsy)
8 - 12 Hz = Alpha (reflective, restful, relaxing)
12 - 30 Hz = Beta (busy, active mind)
30 - 44 Hz = Gamma (problem solving, concentration)
So, for example, sleeping will usually be best at 1-4Hz ("0.001" - "0.004")
Duty Cycle
The DUTY/N + and - buttons set the duration of each magnetic field pulse. This should usually be set to 1% to avoid overheating the coils of your PEMF device.
(in the rare occasions that you are using frequencies higher than 200Hz, increase the duty cycle to 2-3% to maximise magnetic field pulse strength).
The SET Button
Pushing and holding this for 6 seconds will change the controller into 'Pulse Mode' where the length of time in seconds that a pulse is on and off can be set.
This is an advanced mode can be used to select more precise frequencies (e.g. 7.83Hz which is a Schumann resonance). Contact me if you are interested to know more.
This mode not that useful for normal operation, so I recommend returning to the Frequency / Duty Cycle % mode by pressing and holding the SET button for 6 seconds.
The ON Button
This turns the PEMF device ON or OFF. When you first switch on the power to your controller box, this will default to ON and you will see "OUT" displayed on the screen to the left of the frequency.
Safety Precautions
To avoid overheating the coils in your PEMF device, keep the Duty Cycle at 1%.
When first starting PEMF therapy, it's a good idea to begin with shorter sessions, e.g. 10-15 minutes per day, and increase the duration gradually over a few weeks.
Make sure you are well hydrated before undergoing PEMF therapy, and if you feel any discomfort, stop and resume the next day.
Sometimes PEMFs will encourage the body to detox, which can cause a few days of discomfort as the body flushes out toxins.
PEMF therapy is generally very safe and there are no known significant side effects associated with it.
However, at present, there is insufficient evidence for possible contraindications of PEMF therapy. For this reason, precautions and medical advice should be taken before undergoing PEMF therapy if you have any of the following conditions:
- Pregnancy
- Bleeding
- Tuberculosis
- Acute viral diseases
- Mycosis
- Cardiopathy
- Tumours
- Severe arrhythmias
- Pacemaker wearers
- Children
- Wearers of magnetisable prostheses
- Acute infections
- Epilepsy
- Juvenile diabetes
